BetBoom Team wins twice at The International 2024

Jordan Woodruff BetBoom Team won twice on Monday in order to charge through the opening portion of the lower bracket at The International 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The lower bracket of the double-elimination playoffs began Monday, and BetBoom escaped the first round with a 2-1 win over Talon Esports before sweeping nouns 2-0 in the next round.
1w Team defeated Team Zero 2-0 in the first round but were then swept away by Team Falcons by the same score. BetBoom and Falcons will meet later this week in Round 3 of the lower bracket.
Talon, Team Zero, 1w Team and nouns were eliminated from the competition.
The playoffs began with 16 teams seeded in either the upper or lower bracket based on the results of the group stage and seeding deciders. The winners of the decider matches began the main event in the upper bracket, and the losing sides started in the lower bracket.
The main event runs through Sunday. All matches are best-of-three until the grand final, which is best-of-five.
The champions will earn 45 percent of the prize pool, which began with a base of $1.6 million and will increase based on sales within the game.
On Monday, BetBoom survived and advanced out of lower-bracket Round 1 by sandwiching wins of 35 minutes and 50 minutes on green around a 50-minute loss on red. Danil "gpk" Skutin of Russia had his best showing for BetBoom on the win-or-go-home final map, producing 17 kills, just one death and 14 assists.
BetBoom then trounced nouns in 32 minutes on red and 39 minutes on green. Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko of Russia averaged a 12.5-1.0-13.5 kills-deaths-assists ratio for BetBoom.
Playing on red for both maps, 1w Team handled Team Zero in 33 minutes and 37 minutes, respectively. Aleksandr "Cloud" Zakharov of Russia averaged a 7.0-0.0-11.5 K-D-A to lead 1w Team.
But in the next round, 1w ran into Team Falcons, who prevailed in 32 minutes on red and 30 minutes on green. Slovakia's Oliver "skiter" Lepko posted an average K-D-A of 9.0-1.0-10.0 for Falcons.
The tournament continues Tuesday with four matches:
